Now Hiring ...a Wet Nurse!

Okay so it has been a week and a few days since the arrival of our beautiful baby boy and I just have to say one thing...I am looking to hire a wet nurse.
Just part time, you know. :) Now that would be something to smile about. Why did they get rid of those anyways?

Minus Brad and I walking around like Zombies for the first week, things are actually going really well. Lucy is the best big Sister a boy could ask for. If I had a dollar for every time she gives Charlie kisses in a day, I would be a millionaire! For some reason she thinks that Charlie can see her better if she gets right up into his face, so every time we turn around we have to pry her off of Charlie's Face, and let her know that "He's actually sleeping". Don't mess though because any time Charlie even Wimpers a little bit while he's sleeping she practically breaks down and cries until one of us makes sure that he is comfortable. She is also very protective so anytime one of our friends wants to hold Charlie she gets really upset and cries. Its really funny.

I think he looks so handsome...just like his daddy!!!:)

There is Life after Psych!

Confession. Brad and I are not huge TV watchers, but over the past 3 months Brad and I have watched around 63 episodes of Psych (Not all at once) on netflix. "Wow. Thats a lot of wasted hours of your life" you are probably saying to yourself right about now, but just so you know it started to become life! We thought about it all day. We couldn't wait to put Lucy to bed at night because then we knew we would have at least 45 minutes of Shawn and Gus time. They became our friends. Our amigos. Our Peng You's. We couldn't wait to find out what crazy things would happen next on our adventures together (okay, maybe our role was just sitting on a chair eating popcorn, watching them die almost every episode) but it was Awesome. And then one night....we ran out of episodes. Thats right. Netflix only goes up to season 4 (until season 5 gets released on May 31st.) Wow. What were we supposed to do then. For the first few nights we would put Lucy to bed and were like, "Wow, what should we do now?" and we could think of nothing! Nothing to fill the shoes of our beloved psych time. For a few nights we re-watched some of our favorite episodes, but it wasn't the same. And then one night Brad said, "Hey, lets play scrabble". and we did. and we liked it! And one night we went to bed early and fell asleep reading the Scarlet Pimpernel out loud to each other. And it was great! And now I only find myself thinking about psych every once in a while. So I am now writing this blog post to let all of you who fell into the same addiction as us...that there is LIFE AFTER PSYCH. It takes time and patience...okay, maybe just time. But life can be normal again for you one day also!

Happy Birthday to Lucy!!!

Grandpa Meldrum gives all of his grandkids a special gift when they turn 2 years old! Because we are going to be in china this summer, he sent it this week! This beautiful rocking chair! Lucy was adamant that she help set it up, and now we can't get her to get out of it! She loves it and its beautiful!

Lucy...Its whats for dinner!

So, the other day I was trying to get dinner made, and Brad was swamped with homework so he was working to get that done...this meant that Lucy was left to her own devices. She kept trying to get us to play with her and when we weren't getting the hint she started getting into EVERYTHING she wasn't supposed to!

I kept getting frustrated and mad at her thinking, "Just give me five more minutes and then I will play with you!" when I looked down and saw that she some how fit ourself into our frying pan! My first reaction was to be like, "LUCY! What are you doing!?" but then I looked at her face and instead I just busted up laughing. Brad got the camera and Lucy accomplished her goal of getting some good attention!

Go Karts!

Okay, so my parents live in a small town called "Smithville" in MO...and its awesome!!! Its close to a lake, and all these cool trails. But one of the coolest things about smithville is that the elementary school has "Summer School" for all the kids, but its just fun classes they can take, like Yoga and Shop. And if they don't miss a day the school district will give them 50 dollars! Sweet Huh? Anyways, my brother got this "Go Kart" making kit so Brad, Isaac, Gunnar, and Lucy all put it together! It was sweet!

"Slack by name...not by nature"

My Mom's maiden name is "Slack", and whenever anyone asked my Grandpa what his last name was he would always say, "Slack by name...not by nature". We had a "Slack Family reunion" last week in Nauvoo, and let me tell you... there was anything but "slacking" going on! We did a 3 mile trek, family choir, and we even raced Go Karts! It was a blast. It made me really think how important family is. After I was pregnant with Lucy I was thinking, "man, I don't know how many more times I can do this", however, after being at the reunion I was thinking, "man, my children need siblings so they can support each other and have someone to turn to". It was really cool to be around so much family!
